Matt (my boyfriend of 1.5yrs) told me to be ready for a day date on sunday. He’s known to plan spontaneous dates, so I wasn’t too caught off guard. He also told me the girls would be with my parents for the day… he had already arranged that too. Man with a plan, I like it!
We leave church that morning and ate lunch with a group… as usual. We kiss the girls goodbye and Matt takes me to a local candy shop. It’s known for its whimsical decor and excessive amounts of candy. I had mentioned a while back that I’d like to come back without the kids so I could take my time looking at the different floors of candy/items. There’s so much to look at! So, naturally, I was happy that he listened! We walked around and then he checked us in. He booked an instructional class for us… how sweet 🙂 -pun intended. The class he chose was to make different sodas. That sounds neat! We enter the room and are all alone. Apparently we were the only ones who thought this class was a good idea lol. The instructor comes in and tells us there is bad news. The C02 tank leaked overnight, so the class cannot take place. They will give us a class credit and allow us to choose any other class to have today. I chuckle because whenever Matt tries to plan something… it never goes as planned. We chose a candy bar making class. YUM! So the instructor teaches us the science behind chocolate, allows us to taste test a few pieces and then we were able to take turns using the utensils to mix the ingredients. Apparently aerating it, makes it tastes better. After the chocolate was made we were able to put them into molds and add any additional pieces of candy we liked. We were each able to make 3 candy bars. Once they sat in the freezer for a few minutes they were ready to eat (or go home). That was pretty neat. After the class we walked around the store (3 floors) and used our free ice cream vouchers. YUM.
It was nice to be able to look around, laugh at the unique names, and not have to worry about the two octopus that are with Nina and Papa right now. We left and are now headed to my parents.
I noticed Matt texting more than usual, but he told me he was talking with his buddy… no worries. We get to my parents and open the garage. We walk into the house from there. As I enter, I see my family and his all sitting in the living (and my BFF). They are all wearing Santa hats and there is a huge Christmas display in the living room. They had taken many decorations from the attic for this occasion. As I look up I see a banner with my HUGE face (and Matt’s) and it read: “Will You Marry Me?”. I am completely confused. We hadn’t really even talked about marriage. I love the idea, but I am not the type to push… it should be his idea. Well, I guess he was ready.
As I turned to him and asked if he was serious (yes, I most definitely did).. he was down on his knee with a beautiful ring. The ring was in a porcelain box that looked like a christmas present. (Christmas is my favorite in case you haven’t gathered lol). I said yes, and kissed him. The girls were dressed like white angels and Matt had picked out the dresses/costumes for them. He hopes they are big enough that they could wear them in the wedding… how thoughtful. Just when I thought it was over, Matt asked the girls to follow him. He had two more porcelain boxes for them too. Inside were silver heart necklaces with a diamond on them. He explained to them that he asked their mommy to marry him… and he wanted to know if he could be their daddy too. Yeah, I think we all held our composure until this moment. They gladly accepted and asked to wear them immediately. He’s a keeper y’all!
So… the wedding planning begins! ❤
