Chloe’s headaches come periodically, but this day was different. We decided to go see a movie and on the way home she looked pale and tired. I asked her if she was ok, she nodded that she was. I guess with her heart defect, her coloring changes in a second… so I’ve learned. I assumed she was tired, but watched her like a hawk on the way home. As we were approaching our exit she began to vomit….. like continuously. Not taking a chance I drive straight to the children’s hospital ER. I text my parents, to let them know what we were doing. Of course, they head up there too. I have Abby with me… so I was very appreciative to have more hands to help.
We arrive to the ER lobby and I check her in. They show me as the Foster Parent and not the adoptive parent, even though I have already notified the records department. Thankfully my attorney emailed me a certified copy so I emailed it to them immediately to change their records. -I highly recommend newly adoptive parents to do this. You have no idea how much this has saved me in the medical field. Being able to email a copy is a life saver!-
Chloe needed fluids as she was dehydrated, but the on-call physician felt like it was some kind of migraine. They treated her for a migraine and within 30min she was back to her spunky self. It was scary to see her so lethargic and white. I sent a message to her neurologist so they could pull the ER records. This way we can be seen if she feels the need.
