Naturally, we made an appointment to start looking at wedding dresses shortly after the engagement. It was black Friday weekend, so we were hopeful for a good deal!
We walk into the shop and are greeted by a panel of women dressed in all black. I find that ironic. Usually you wear black to a funeral, or mourn the loss of a loved one. Not here, they are dressed in all black to help you find one of the most important details for one of your most important days!
I am greeted with our consultant, her name is Ann-marie. She quickly asks me what type of dress I am looking for. My witty self responds: “A white dress, possibly off-white”. By no means am I a fashionista, so I am pretty clueless as to what I want. I know I don’t want a short dress and from the styles/silhouettes she showed me… the mermaid shape is out of the question!
We thumb through millions of dresses and we start to pull some that seem possible… I only get to do this once right, so let’s make this count! I try on the first dress. It was way too frilly for me… nope. Then I try a second option. This one had 3/4 length lace sleeves. It’s a contender. Especially since my mom cried when she saw it lol. We tried on a few more, but nothing really made me want to consider it. There was a last one that I wanted to try, but it didn’t really seem like something I’d normally wear… so I had doubts. We put it on and clip it in the back. -Girls who like to eat have to pretend it fits lol. It’s beautiful! The beading, the details on the bottom/train.. wow. We are leaning towards a Beauty and the Beast inspiration for the wedding and I think this one fits that perfectly. Makes my boobs look good too! lol
I asked Ann-Marie if there were seasonal changes to the dresses… like should I wait for the winter to look at the winter styles?? She told me that’s not a thing. New styles come in as the designer makes them. So, to me, that meant if I liked one I should yank it since there’s a major sale. So, I said yes the the last dress I tried on. I chose the off-white version rather than the stark white or blush that it also came in. YAY!
