At this month’s visit Rachel told us that Pam decided to move out and into a domestic violence shelter. She finally got the confidence to move out! Because of Dustin’s history and extreme violence towards her it was explained to her that she needed to choose him or her children. If he was still around, reunification will never be an option.

This is not only a celebratory moment for Pam, but it will also determine her ability to live alone. Pam has a long history of depending on men (not so good ones) and not having the confidence to live alone, or the resources. She has only kept a job for a few weeks at a time and has always relied on others financially.

I texted her, commending her on her decision. I truly hope this gets her in a better state for her kids. She has 4 other children who were removed before for the same reasons. So maybe she is now at a time in her life where she can heal and do for herself and be there for all 6 kids, not just my two.

Now we see how this plays out.
