There are a small list of lawyers who work in the dependency system, so I did some research and chose this woman. She has a family of her own, over a decade of experience, and talks to their clients with respect. She called me on the phone and I felt an instant relief. She introduced herself as AJ. She explained that she would be more than happy to represent me until the adoption is finalized… wait finalized?? I like her confidence!

She also reminded me that a new law/act has gone into effect recently where the Foster Parent has the same rights/consideration as a relative as long as the children have been in their home for more than 6 months. So, this is also in our favor. She knew about the upcoming hearing and said she would be there.

The status hearing came… it was short. AJ introduced herself as my counsel but had no other reason to speak. It was said that the home study is expected to be received in a week. So, another hearing will be after that.
