Nina is a teacher and one of her coworkers invited us to their kids’ birthday party. It was at a secluded little farm and sounded fun… so why not?! We arrived and didn’t know a soul, for those who know us that never stops us!

We get to the birthday kids and meet their mom. Abby introduces herself as Aurora. Knowing that’s a Disney princess I begin to wonder if she is just pretending to be her. We did see the movie recently. I corrected her and said, “no your name is Abby”. She replies: “No mommy, I am Aurora now”. My mom’s coworker quickly went with the flow, that’s kinda what you do when you have little ones anyway.

Could she be transitioning on her own? How does a 3 yr old know that we are on the road to adoption? I mean, she hasn’t seen her mom in over a month. Maybe she’s ready to move on?

I think I’m thinking way too far into this…

Would you know… since that party she has introduced herself as Aurora to new folks and those who knew her before she goes as Abby. She’s smarter than we give her credit for!
