First Day of School!

Today is our area’s first day back at school! I feel like our kids all have some form of the template above. Any of you have any professions worth repeating? Don’t worry, my youngest strives to be a “Dump Truck Lady with Nina”. Clearly me choosing to adopt her has NO INFLUENCE on her strive to excellence… good thing I still love her and deep down… love her answer! She’ll love to see it in 10yrs in her memory box as well lol.

As I woke up the girls for the first day of Kindergarten and 1st Grade, they quickly popped up with excitement for day. I dressed them in their 1st day outfits that I embellished with my Cricut (love that thing!) and… crap, I forgot mommy had homework to do! A few days ago, we had a meet and greet with the teachers and I had papers I needed to fill out for the first day. You know: the emergency information, allergy/meds information, get to know you information; ALL the things… and I haven’t done any of it. So I frantically get the folders out and complete them. Thank goodness for Matt. He did their hair and got the snacks packed, and finished morning detail. We all walk out the door and started our journey to school. Heavy traffic was expected, but my goodness it was a parking lot the entire way there! It took us an hour to get to the street the school was on. Then… we waited in that line too. Don’t worry, the food delivery truck was blocking a third of the parent drop-off line, so that just made matters worse. Thankfully Nina was waiting on the girls and rushed to our car to get them to breakfast. They had 10min to eat at this point. Matt and I find a parking spot and walk across the campus to meet the girls inside the cafeteria. They scarf down some food and we caravan to their rooms. Abby tried to be the independent one and wanted to go by herself. Sorry kid, this is a parent moment. We are all going together 🙂 We got her obligatory 1st day photo and dropped her off. Then Chloe’s turn. Being a kindergartener this is all new to her! We’ve already talked about her anxiety about change, so you can only imagine how she’s feeling today. We let her lead the way so she can start learning where her classroom is. We make it to the classroom and she reminds me “mommy this is my class, this is where i’ll be”. Her knowing the I know where she is comforts her immediately. We do our hugs/kissses and wish her the best 1st day. Whoops… we forgot to take her 1st picture lol, I’ll get it this afternoon.

Don’t worry, we start dance again tonight as well. The mommy taxi is officially back!
